David Reznick, CPA, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board

David Reznick is the co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Reznick Group, P.C., formerly Reznick Fedder & Silverman. Since establishing the firm in 1977, he has led the firm’s growth from one office to a top 20 CPA firm with offices nationwide.

In addition to his responsibilities as chairman, David provides direct services to a range of real estate clients, including developers, syndicators and lending institutions. He manages agents throughout the United States and Puerto Rico regarding all aspects of commercial and residential developments. He often consults in the areas of tax analysis and the structuring of major real estate syndications, and his advice is sought frequently on policy issues related to real estate and affordable housing. He has testified before the House of Representatives, Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity, giving recommendations to restructuring the Section 8 portfolio of FHA insured mortgages. Clients of multi-family properties in danger of default have called on David to provide advice on capitalization, where he restructured debt and assets by bringing in new capital to preserve the affordable housing.

David has been involved in HUD cost certification compliance and operational audit compliance since 1968. He assisted in writing the cost certification manual for a residential housing tax exempt bond participating mortgage fund. Starting in 1971, David assisted clients in the preparation of financial forecasts and the structure of syndications for HUD insured projects and state financed housing projects. For more than 30 years, he has helped guide developers through HUD TPA transactions. David has directed government housing program audits for numerous developer clients, including both contractor and mortgagor cost certifications and operating audits as required by HUD, the Maryland Community Development Administration and numerous other state housing agencies.

David has been a featured speaker in numerous national real estate industry seminars and affordable housing conferences, lecturing on subjects such as Passive Losses and Debt Restructuring, Historic Preservation, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, New Market Tax Credits, HUD Cost Certification under sections 221D(4) and 232, Multifamily Housing and other related matters.
