Julie E. Newland, CPA, Principal

As an audit principal in the firm’s Atlanta office, Julie Newland’s extensive audit and accounting experience is primarily focused on real estate, renewable energy and film and tax credit advisory services.  She has been with Reznick Group for more than 15 years.

For real estate clients, Julie provides services to developers and owners, syndicators, investors, property management companies as well as lenders. Her comprehensive services include property and fund level audits, cost certifications, net operating income and debt service analysis, Section 42 compliance reviews and consulting. Also, she has issued more than 900 cost certifications for Section 42 and Section 47 real estate projects. As a credentialed professional in the treatment of development costs, Julie provides her clients with one-on-one educational workshops.

Performing tax credit work for renewable energy and film credits, Julie leads the Atlanta practice by issuing cost certifications needed for Section 48 investment tax credits as well as the Section 1603 Exchange Grant certifications and the Georgia Entertainment Industry Tax Credit. Her savvy and diligent approach  has assisted clients with particularly challenging accounting issues. In 2004, Julie created a specialized accounting department in the Atlanta office that was designed to take on particularly challenging accounting projects that did not fit within standard audit or tax boundaries.

Julie is one of the leaders of Reznick Group’s Professional Bootcamp Development Program for senior managers and principals and is a member of the firm’s National Learning Committee, helping to develop the skills of audit team members. She is a frequent guest lecturer for the University of Georgia’s acclaimed accounting program and is involved in assisting with the firm’s college and professional recruitment efforts.
