
Michael Hammond is a principal in the Atlanta office of Reznick Group. He is an assurance and consulting professional with more than 25 years of business experience in both the public and private sectors. This experience includes 18 years with international accounting firms where he was assigned to some of those firm’s largest clients. He is experienced in financial, operational and performance audits, and process improvement. Hehas experience in several industries including, but not limited to, government, nonprofits and manufacturing and distribution.
Michael currently serves as Reznick Group’s leader for the firm's SSAE 16 and Technology Assurance practices. He is also a member of Reznick Group’s State and Local Government committee. Michael has served numerous governments and nonprofit organizations, focusing primarily on financial statement attestation, the direction of financial and performance audits conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards, assessments of accounting and management reporting systems, evaluation of internal controls and recommendations for process improvement. As part of Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts, the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) was charged with the State’s distribution of billions of dollars of federal grants to homeowners who suffered flood damage to their residences. Reznick Group was awarded the contract to provide the MDA with program management consulting and oversight of grant funds, in which Michael was instrumental.
Michael has spent a significant part of his professional career advising numerous companies, organizations and agencies on risk and controls and is recognized as Reznick Group’s South Central Region internal controls subject matter professional. He is involved in the delivery of business risk assessments and internal audit sourcing engagements for internal audit service delivery. He has also led large internal audit co-sourcing engagements and implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 projects.
