The clock is ticking. Estate Planning Following the Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2010.

The 2010 Act increased everyone's gift, estate and GST tax exemptions to $5 million, but sunsets in 17 months. Given today's political and economic climate no one can predict how Congress will proceed, if it fails to act exemptions will revert to the 2001 levels of $1 million per person. It is also likely that Congress will seek to offset revenue loss attributable to higher exemptions by eliminating currently available valuation discounts and other planning techniques.

Developers, real estate owners, property managers and business owners this is an excellent opportunity for you to learn how to reduce your exposure to estate tax liabilities. Our panel will discuss the state of wealth transfer laws, as well as unique estate and income tax planning opportunities available during the next 17 months.

Some of the issues to be discussed by our panel:

  • How to minimize estate tax exposure while maintaining control, cash flow and flexibility
  • Why does real estate or a closely held business enjoy favored status is today's environment?
  • How to leverage your $5 million gift tax exemption to minimize or eliminate tax exposure
  • How to create "nest eggs" protected from creditors to minimize estate tax exposure
  • How the 2010 Act affects prior planning
  • What can you do between now and 2012?
