
Carrie Van Syckel is a Vice President in the Urban Investment Group (UIG) at Goldman Sachs. Headquartered in New York City, UIG is an investing and lending vehicle within Goldman Sachs. Founded in 2000, UIG deploys the firm’s capital though investments and loans that benefit low and moderate income people and communities. UIG projects have catalyzed the development of approximately 5,000 new housing units, of which roughly 2,800 have been affordable to low and middle-income families, as well as over 100,000 square feet of community facility space and over 350,000 square feet of urban retail.
Since joining UIG in early 2004, Ms. Van Syckel has focused primarily on projects in the New York City Metropolitan Area and Los Angeles, with particular focus on transit oriented development, public/private projects, mixed-income developments, and projects involving New Markets Tax Credits.
Prior to joining UIG, Ms. Van Syckel spent five years as an Investment Banker at Goldman Sachs. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ms. Van Syckel worked in the Investment Banking Division of Banc of America Securities L.L.C.
Ms. Van Syckel serves on the Board of McCormack Baron Salazar, a national affordable housing developer. Ms. Van Syckel is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Housing Conference. Ms. Van Syckel received a B.S.E. in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Van Syckel lives in New Jersey with her husband and two children.
